Saturday 18 July
The mister men are currently working on a couple of stories which require a fair amount of attention to detail.
We figured in the interim we would give you a quick update and answer some questions some of which we have received via our email address, bully@tutamail.comand others, that we think may be of interest to everyone.
We encourage people to respond to the posted articles. We cannot trace you and neither can anyone else if you do. You don't have to use your real name or register. A lot of people use nick names. It's great for us and in fact, for everyone to see and read how others are thinking and feeling.
We love to receive feedback. We are pleased to receive it via our email address. If you wish to make suggestions, criticize us or tell us anything at all, feel free. If you are worried about privacy, you can register for a free email address which is web based and very secure here; https://tutanota.com/ There are other secure providers, such as ruggedinbox, hushmail and xmail.
We would advise not using departmental computers to send any personal emails from any provider to anyone if you truly value your privacy. They have key stroke recording software. Given the breaches in privacy regarding medical records, we wouldn't trust the health department as far as we could throw them.
Every story we post and every comment is saved. We back up every 24 hours. If we do go down again we will be up again almost immediately via one of several ghost blogs that also run all the information, stories and posts.
The feedback we have received is highly valued. In the past week we have received 109 emails and about 125 comments on the blog. The blog has received 3968 page hits in the past 7 days which means we have had almost 11000 views since we set this up. We thought we might get a 1000 a month if we were lucky. Thank you for your support. It is very encouraging. All of us should be encouraged that we are not alone anymore.
We would ask you to share the blog link with your colleagues even if they do not work in the NT. Spread the message. It will force them to change their evil ways.
Common themes from the readership emails emerge as follows;
- The appalling responses from HR to complaints and concerns of staff. This includes having complaints ignored, giving the manager complained about a 'tip off' and turning the original complaint into a complaint about the complainant. Raelene Burke who had the temerity to criticise our small but well targeted study should put her own house in order before she throws rocks at us and the victims of departmental bullying abuse who she belittled in comments to the NT News recently. Burke's ill advised and insensitive comments have galvanized one the team on to finish an article about her crappy HR department which we will release soon. Burke is not going to like it. As if we care about that...
- OCPE would appear to be as biased as we suspected they were.
- The three most senior managers in the department of health are not up to the jobs they hold.
- The perpetrators of the worst bullying are still in post.
- Middle managers lie. A lot.
- There are massive inequalities in service provision across the NT.
- Nepotism, cronysm and abuse of MERIT is rife.
- Culture of cover up is ++++ and everywhere.
Keep checking back and spread the word. The more who know about us the more pressure for real change can be brought to bear. The health department could not care less about accountability of their managers and they have got away with it for years.
They hate being in the public eye and they hate us sharing the truth about them among our professional groups.
So keep sharing until they start managing properly.
Back soon.
The mister men.

this is beig shared everywhere. Even my parents are sharing it. The DoH forget that we have families and people who care about us when they go into attack mode.
ReplyDeleteexcellent. thank you and thank your parents.
DeleteWe agree, Ben. We think that by publicizing the tricks of the trade, clinicians have a chance to be forewarned and prepared. That is why we ask people to share this information and to keep checking back in. We know that there are some good people in management and we also know that some of them are also very concerned (and have written the same to us).
DeleteHowever, the link between false allegations and clinician suicide/depression/loss of career/psychological false imprisonment is very clear. And it is also apparent that certain managers have deliberately used false allegations to destroy clinicians.
We are very concerned that one day a colleague will succumb and suicide. We think remote clinicians are at a higher risk because the bullying goes on mainly in remote locations and the organisation know that it does - and yet the organization refuses to take it on board.
What ever action we take, it will never be out of malice, but out of concern that quite frankly, the department of health should be showing but don't, to their work force.
We aren't here because we hate anyone but because there is a problem and the health department won't take action to deal with it.
you may not be in the hate industry but there are many who are.
DeleteLove you work mister men.
ReplyDeleteShared!
keep sharing, Truth!
DeleteWas in a large clinic in central last week and this blog was being discussed every morning. I have not heard a single person say they think it is a bad idea. The response numbers show that health professionals are very keen to share information and notes about who the bullies are. I do wonder - what about the nest step? What do you do if you become a target of the bullying? thanks and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeletewe plan on dealig with your very good points shortly. we also strongly recommend that peope pay $25 and join HPARA. contact them on hparacommittee@gmail.com
Deletethere are a lot of health professionals providing support to each other at HPARA
PS none of the mister men are on the committee of HPARA. We are members, however.
DeleteRecord everything and lawyer up, is the short answer.
DeleteCardfightback has info which deals with this kind of situation also.
Don't forget the NT GOV only has a limited number of strategies to try to destroy you/us. They are copied across NTPS Depts.
The more people who share info on these, the more of us who can start to develp defences and actions.....which we then must share too.
"What do you do if you become a target of the bullying?" - great question.
DeleteFOI requests,
Keep a diary of written notes,
Make audio recordings (but be careful what you use them for!),
Use the internal grievance procedure (don't laugh) but only as a record of your attempts - obviously it won't really help you fix anything in the short term,
Inform as many outside jurisdictions as you can - sometimes being publicly exposed can help protect you, as everyone is watching then,
Remember you are not alone, the bully + friends will try to tell you it's your fault and that noone else is complaining, DON'T BELIEVE THEM,
Last but probably the most important: SPEAK TO A LAWYER (Ron Hope is a good place to start),
Start a blog? ;)
Blogs are good. This one is gold.
DeleteShared and thanks for the information.
ReplyDelete"Burke's ill advised and insensitive comments..."
ReplyDeleteWe like CFB's picture/dictionary definition of her much more:
https://cardfightback.wordpress.com/2015/07/12/teaching-in-the-territory-phil-brennans-legacy-a-burke-protects-a-burke-to-burke-any-proper-investigation/
True. These NTPS people are a pack of liars. Its all they know.
DeleteI have revelations about the NT Health Department dating back to 2006. I also want to encourage all of us who have lost our jobs through bullying to baand together nd take out a class action, through Maurice Blackburn and Co to claim our lost wages, hurt to our mental health, PTSD and all the rest of it and get back at these selfish Dogs, as that is what they are, just Dogs.
ReplyDeleteBlackburn don't practice in the NT. You are better off writing a one page summary of your issues (the ones you can evidence) and seeing a local lawyer. Ron Hope knows exactly what they are like having worked in the DoH. Evidence is key which is why Information Act requests have to be made to help to scope the case. Check out the CARDFIGHTBACK page plus all the links posted on this thread.
DeleteFinally...bullying in the nursing profession is being brought out into the open! Bullying is endemic throughout nursing in Australia...Please....don't be afraid...like bullies, we need to speak out against this horrible, soul destroying practice (bullying). Speaking from experience...bullies hate being EXPOSED outside of the nursing profession....
ReplyDeletebullies are cowards, no question. exposing the truth is the way to go. information act requests help to get to the bottom of some of it. keeping a contemperaneous diary also helps. witnesses are great of they are willing to step forward.
Deletecan i just say that as an agency nurse who works all over the NT on short contracts i fully support this blog and the mister men. there is not a single health care facility that i have worked at where bullying has not been an issue. one of the problems is that the relationships between managers is unhealthy and they are all mates who lie and cheat and cover for each other. in central the boss is over sensitive and always looks for revenge when things don't go the way they want it to whilst in thge top end it is just plain vicious and nasty. i am currently in a large clinic in the top end and this blog is empowering people on the ground. to be honest of the executives don't start taking this seriously, there will be a revolution. nurses are generally very passive when it comes to speaking out, but this issue is becoming huge.
Deleteit gets messier and messier. great work once again by the mister men team in unravelling this mess. all anyone ever gets from this pack of twisted bureaucrats is double speak and cover up. the only relationship they want with the truth is one where they can put it into a box, lock it up and hide it. this mess never ends. they investigate themselves, cover up the truth and then all move on, swapping positions, changing names, scratching each others backs until the next crisis arrives. to hell with coal face workers doing the jobs that actually keep them in posts in the first place. keep up this excellent blog.
DeleteAgree Maria, the blog is fantastic. Having once reported a bully to HR it is heartwarming that that pack of idiots are finally being exposed. My complaint was completely ignored. When I got in touch with them to find out what was happening, they denied ever having received it. At that point I resigned. Never again will I work for NT DoH. keep up the great work.

ReplyDeleteGreat. We have copies saved forever everywhere!
DeleteIf Len Notarus continues to support the the middle managers and the exec and HR staff after reading this blog then there is no hope to stop the bullying.
ReplyDeleteOnly when all the managers in central Australia remote primary health care are removed would I ever come back to DOH.
Don't trust any of them and I have personally experienced them closing in on me and other staff who speak out about thier inappropriate behaviour only to see the DON promoted despite several HR complaints against him for bullying.
Keep up the good work and hopefully I can come back to a job I LOVE
Very sad isn't it? There are so mnay people like you who have just despaired and given up. Having worked in remote locations all over the country, the one place I will never return to is a facility run by the nt department of health. My registration is worth more to me than taking the risk.
DeleteTrue. Most people walk away.
Delete,,,,and the bullying managers stay.
Deletethat will be the prick who went to Ali Curung and had a free consult with the visiting podiatrist whilst he was there. Line jumping bludging double standards tosser.
DeleteYep I wonder how many people he has bullied over the years
DeleteYES "FED UP" I would love to hear how many people scattered around Australia experienced the UNIQUE TERRITORY LIFESTYLE over the years! Its is no suprise we can not get staff up here! A few adverts in the Southern papers would do it!!
DeleteThese people are all CLP picks and the health department is being sewn up. The bullying is ongoing. Clinicians are being slaughtered. Every time it happens it is being suppressed. At last this stuff is coming out into the open. I hope you get the evidence to nail them mister men.
ReplyDeleteThe NTPS is completely corrupt. The people at the top will do anything to attack and destroy people who they think of as threats.
ReplyDeleteThe NTPS is completely corrupt. The people at the top will do anything to attack and destroy people who they think of as threats.
ReplyDeleteThey are so bad you said it twice..
DeleteExactly what happened to that Ferguson guy at Education. He kept fighting though and won lots of out of court settlements from NT GOV. Lots of stuff in newspapers too. I hear he's taking them back to court soon again because they want to deny him an opportunity to be employed. My lawyer says that's unlawful. We'll be watching out for that with interest in our office.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that he is still beating the bastards down.
DeleteGreat Blog. Whilst the stories are pretty shocking none of it surprises me. I worked for them 7 years ago and they were exactly the same. I signed up for five years and left after 18 months. I knew my registration was being put at risk every single day that I worked for them. They don't give a shit about their staff. Never have and never will. forget any romantic notions of working in the NT and absorbing the oldest culture in the world. These nt health bullying bastards will absorb you into a culture of blame and bullying before any of the good stuff rubs off. Its sad to see so many of the same managers there after so many years. Nothing will ever change until the feral management are booted out.
ReplyDeleteThere would not be a health department in the country with the quantity of stories about bullying written about it in the past year as the NT department of health. SHAME ON YOU.
ReplyDeletehear hes studying law now
ReplyDeleteI just saw story on xxxx education hr general manager and can't believe he is now senior HR in health.
ReplyDeleteBrace your selves for a very bumpy ride because I can't see how justice is ever going to prevail in DOH
P.S does this mean we can expect promotions for central managers!
NT Worksafe will cover up any complaints you lodge.they are the most deliberately incompetent safety regulator in Australia.
ReplyDeleteOne director (the cane-toad) stated in a meeting that workplace bullying is a myth.
Worksafe always puts a political stooge in as the executive director or directors of operations.
The current senior director is a liberal party good old boy and stooge.
He said in a meeting once that all workers need is lunchbox and a drink of-water and we don't want to be prosecuting anyone because its bad for business.
